What’s the first thing most people see in their minds when they hear the word, Sydney? Yes, the Opera House. Right next to it, mentally and literally, is the Sydney Harbor (I mean Harbour) Bridge.
Yesterday, Kate and I took a ferry from Darling Harbour around to Circular Quay, sailing under the bridge and past the Opera House.

I like #8 because of the blue sky backdrop…shows off the details!
Need to clarify: I like #8 of the Opera House only, and I like #1 of the Bridge and the Opera House…like the way the bridge frames the opera house
#4 Opera House
#3 Bridge
Bridge and Opera House was the most difficult to choose, but I will say #2
They are all beautiful. appreciated the blue skies you captured.
I love number 3-Opera House-mainly because of the cool clouds in the background. (The Heavens are telling-don’t cha know?)
Also number 8 is amazing due to the contrast you’ve got going there-extremely blue sky and what we don’t often see-the brightness of the back of the Opera House buildings. Very cool.
OK-the Sydney Harbor Bridge photos are all good, but I vote for number 4…the sun gleaming on the water is amazing! And love that sailboat in the foreground. Nice!
I know what you mean about the extra camera battery. (Heck, I can go to a picnic with my grandchildren and end up shooting 80 photos in a couple hours! -Lots of deleting and editing when I get them onto the computer! ha!)
Man, Noel, these Opera House with Bridge ones are all good! You are one good photographer!
I think my fave is number 1…the Opera House is so nicely framed by the bridge. That said, I also like number 3! Bet there were scads more you didn’t include here…
I liked Opera House #9 best but since it really wasn’t the Opera House I chose #4.
The Bridge was #3. Together I really like #1. The sail boat’s position was perfect and the black and white effect made me want to read a book about the story inside the picture.
Sorry about that #9, which isn’t really the Opera House. oops.
Opera House #7 – The clouds against the building are amazing.
bridge #3 because I love the black and white.
Opera House and bridge #2 ~ beautiful.
I like picture # 8- Opera House. Beautiful!
Picture #3- Sydney Bridge Love the lighting!
Picture #3- bridge and opera house. Just love the angle and picture! gorgeous! Makes me want to visit AUS!
#4 Bridge – so peaceful and serene – beautiful – I’m there!
#4 Opera House – the sky makes the shot – water in foreground – clouds in background – skyline in center – great shot!
#3 Opera House Bridge – fantastic shot – shows the architecture of the bridge – beautiful white
puffy clouds against blue sky and the city’s skyline – WOW!
#3-Opera House…The clouds make it look extra dramatic.
#4-Bridge. Love the way the water looks with the bridge!!
#5-Opera House and Bridge. Really like the Sun & water combo. Beautiful!!
Opera House from ferry 2
Sydney Harbor Bridge 2
sydney Harbor Bridge/Opera House 2
i tendto like the abstract in photos and these 3 really caught my eye!
I like #9 of Jamison Valley in the Opera House album
Yeah. How did that get in there? Working too quickly I guess.
Opera House #5 –I Love being able to see the details. My kids enjoyed it too. They recognized it from Finding Nemo.
I like # 3 black and white Bridge photo
I like #2 of the Opera House and Bridge
Bridge #4–Beautiful!
Sydney Bridge and Opera House #3 –I love the perspective. Great shot.
Photo #5 Opera House and Bridge
Photo Number 2 Bridge (but 3 is a close second)
Photo #4 Opera House.
I’m torn between:
#6- Opera House and #8- Opera House. Very different photos but I really like both of them.
Love #4- Bridge
#2- Bridge and Opera House
#8 Opera House
#4 Bridge
#4 Opera House and Bridge
#4 of the Opera House is great! I love the deep, dark waters and the bright, cloudy sky!
#4 of the Bridge photos is really nice too, especially with the sailboat leading into the photo from the right. It really draws your eye in!
#3 is my favorite for the bridge and opera house photos. It’s cool that it focuses on the bridge and then you notice this iconic building in the background. Great angles too!
I like Opera House #8, because it is a view that is not a common as others I have seen of it. It reminds me of wings
I am partial to the Bridge #4….it says, “end-of-day-calm” to me.
#3 is my favorite with both the Opera House and Bridge….I like the way my eye is lead over the bridge and takes me into the city and over to the Opera House.
Opera House Sydney 6: At first I thought my pick would be the one with a clear blue (cloudless) sky, but when I viewed the photos enlarged, this one is my clear choice. Great pics, Noel!
Tough choice: I can’t pick between Sydney Harbor Bridge 2 and Sydney Harbor Bridge 3. So different from one another, both terrific pics!
Sydney Harbor Bridge, Opera House 2 is my favorite!
May God richly bless your time in Australia, Noel!
#6-Opera House
I was going to say #3 for the angle of the Opera House and clouds in the gorgeous blue sky, but I love how #6 captures all that plus the moment of the water. Very beautiful!
#4-Bridge
Again I just love the water. The movement and reflection of light, it’s so calming.
#3-Bridge and Opera House
I love the bridge against the sky and angle of the picture.
#7 Opera House…because it shows the larger context of that building, the city behind it, and most of all the beautiful cloud mass and sky above as if to say man can build amazing structures, but God is over all
#3 Bridge photo because the orientation of the sailboat seeming to be headed under the bridge and beyond…like follow me on my journey.
#5 Opera House and Bridge because it shows the context of the structures together; the arcs of the Opera house roof repeat those of the bridge and I like the composition. We can see that the boat is going away from the scene and it’s a little like being there with you for a split second
I love Opera House #8 the best because it shows the structure so beautifully. Thank you for sharing!
Opera house number 6 and 7 were our favorites. This was a great learning opportunity for my boys. We haven’t really talked much about operas or designing buildings for accoustics. To them the building looked a lot like stacked rowboats or sails. I love how God is so creative and allows it to flow so differently from each of us.
I love #2-Sydnie Harbor Bridge. Again, you captured the structure so beautifully. It looks magnificent.
Isn’t it incredible to think of the strength of that bridge? Yet nothing compared to God. Sydney Harbor Bridge picture number 3 is our favorite; however, the colors in number 4 are amazing, too.
Really enjoy Bridge and Opera House #2. It shows the grand structure of the bridge and the full opera house. Truly God gave men the talent to build such structures!
Opera House – #5
Sydney Harbor Bridge – #3
Bridge & Opera House #3 (I’m a bit of a bridge freak so I like being able to see more of the bridge!)
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing, Noel!
Enjoy the rest of the trip.
We like picture number 3 of the Opera House with the Bridge. Last night when my husband looked at them, he appreciated the artistic flair of the angle of the bridge. My three boys agreed that it was their favorite picture. The blue sky and puffy clouds are amazing. I pray that you are enjoying the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that gives us such lavish gifts of beauty. I praise Him for allowing you to share your trip and the wonders of God with us!
Opera House – photo number 4!
Sydney Harbor Bridge – #3 for sure!
Bridge and Opera House – #3 Love this! I lived Down Under for a semester in college and fell in LOVE! Trying to convince my husband that we need to move to Australia to be vocational missionaries.
I like #6 – Opera House. I love a skyline view and like you said, who wouldn’t think of the Opera house for Sydney?
#4 – Bridge is my favorite of these. I love the color of the sky.
Bridge and Opera house #1. Perfect set up.
I liked #7 of the Opera House album.
I like picture #3 of the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
I like picture #1 of the Sydney Harbor Bridge & Opera House. Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. I have enjoyed reading your posts. God bless!
Some very cool pictures!! Especially those of the Opera House! What I really want to know is — did you two do the bridge walk?
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your trip with us!! My favorites are:
Opera House #4 — I like the shaded lighting, the skyline, and the interesting asymmetry of the opera house.
Sydney Harbor Bridge #3 — In this case, it’s the symmetry and clarity of the photo that I like.
Bridge + Opera House #3 — Nice symmetry and detail on the bridge with the Opera House below.
I noticed that there are actually two photos titled “Sydney Harbor Bridge, Opera House 3.” My favorite is the one that is photo 3 of 5 in the album.
#7 -Opera House
#4 – Bridge
#3 – Opera House with Bridge
#9 – Opera House photos – because I liked the picture of God’s Handiwork best!
#1 – Bridge – I liked the view of entire bridge
#3 – Opera House and Bridge – liked the contrast of dark bridge
Opera House 3 because you caught the clouds at a perfect moment
Bridge 3 because I’m a sucker for b&w and the sailboat gives it a nice touch!
Bridge & opera house #3 the angle of the bridge plus the clouds–draws my eye towards the opera house. Thanks for the fun of a contest & the great pics!
#4 of the Opera House
#4 of Bridge. I’m a sucker for black and white
#3 of Bridge and Opera House…..
#7 Opera House – good close up of the amazing Opera House, but also includes a good portion of the city in the background.
#3 Bridge – Good full shot of the bridge. I like the sailboat and I think the black and white is a nice touch.
#5 Opera House and Bridge – I just like this perspective the best!
What a neat excursion!
Opera House # 8 – great shot of building
Bridge # 3
Opera House & Bridge – # 4
I like #8 of the Opera house!
Definitely #3 of the Bridge. Gorgeous.
#1 of the Opera house and Bridge.
#7 Opera House for overall composition & light.
#3 Bridge because I can put myself on a boat and be drawn toward the bridge.
#3 Bridge with Opera House. They are all great but I like the sky in this one.
I have enjoyed all your pix, Noel. TY so much for sharing. Gives me the itch to go somewhere and see things I haven’t seen before.
